Cohen's work expresses her subconscious evaluation of the world around her, it is in effect a visual representation of her contemplations about life and its ever changing nature. Cohen believes that every action, article or situation that we encounter as we walk through life, complex or simple, awakens a reaction inside of us. Those cumulative personal reactions she experiences give genesis to her interpretations about life through two artistic mediums.
In this way, Cohen sees her journey as an artist as a metaphor for the human experience: She is in a constant state of evolution and is constantly evaluating that evolution itself in her art. She believes the most central theme that appears through her creative process is the theme of change, movement from one stage to the next, progression.
